Cembrit Fire Rated Sheathing Board – protective shell for steel and timber frame constructions
Posted on 18th July 2018 by CCF
Cembrit Windstopper Extreme is a versatile, tough A2 fire rated sheathing board which provides weatherproofing for the building. This allows interior work to proceed in a build before the exterior finish is complete. The board also has a proven fire resistance, and has been tested up to 120 minutes. Its vapour permeable characteristics allow the building to breathe, whilst accommodating insulation placed directly against the board. The Scandinavian heritage of Windstopper Extreme also ensures it can withstand considerable fluctuations in weather and climatic conditions.
Applications – Long term or temporary
Windstopper Extreme is typically installed behind decorative rainscreen cladding to effectively ‘seal’ the internal environment of a building lasting for the lifetime of the construction. Windstopper Extreme will also function as a temporary façade. It can be exposed to the elements for up to 12 months, providing flexibility to construction schedules should there be delays on site. Windstopper’s durability means it can even be pressure washed or used as a backer for laminates or in composite panels.
Availability and versatility
Windstopper Extreme is available in two thicknesses of 4.5mm and 9mm in various dimensions for on-site convenience. The lightweight 4.5mm thick version can be scored and snapped making for quick, dust free, on site cutting. At only 7.6Kg per m2 it is ideal for temporary weather sealing of buildings awaiting the completion of external elements. Windstopper Extreme can also be used in internal fire rated partition systems and roofline soffits.
Consisting of grey cement and limestone filler, reinforced with a specially selected fibre material that can absorb and release moisture without affecting its durability, strength or performance. The board is guaranteed for durability for 15 years.
