Investing in the Environment and Community

Environmental issues are considered in all aspects of decision-making.

The Group's environmental management system is ISO 14001 certified.

As a group, our carbon reduction strategy is to reduce our emissions by 15% by 2010 from 2005 levels - this includes transport and direct emissions from heating our branches as well as indirect emissions from the generation of electricity that we use.

Vehicle tracking devices have been installed across our fleet and will allow CCF to demonstrate a more efficient and effective delivery service including improved fuel efficiency.

Responsible Sourcing

CCF can provide certified (FSC, PEFC) well managed timber meeting BREEAM requirements. Once agreed, we can also provide management reports to make it easy to track your certified purchases.

Where available we can provide evidence of compliance to the new BRE Environmental & Sustainability Standard for all our products.

Investing in our community

To celebrate the opening of our 1,000th Group branch in July 2006, a historic milestone, we launched our 1,000 projects in 1,000 places in 1,000 days' community initiative. The programme aims to encourage our employees to donate their time and talent for the benefit of their local community.

Community relations and charitable giving

Although the Travis Perkins Group operates nationally, at the heart of the business is the relationship we hold within the local community.

We are often a significant employer in the towns and cities that we operate, and fully understand our responsibilities to the communities we serve. We work hard to nurture and develop relationships with local people and businesses, and actively promote our involvement to their projects, schemes and events.

On a national level, the Travis Perkins Group has raised more than £1 Million for UK charities in the last two years. This has including fundraising by our employees for three nominated charities; Action for Children, Mencap (ENABLE in Scotland) and Leukaemia Research UK; as well as direct donations to other charitable organisations and causes.

CCF's nominated charity is Happy Days, a national children's charity dedicated to providing holidays, residential trips, days out and theatre trips for disadvantaged young people with special needs.
