Our nominated charity, Alzheimer's Society, is the leading support and research charity for people with dementia, their families and carers. Right now there are 800,000 people with dementia in the UK; by 2021 there could be one million.
Alzheimer's Society works to improve the quality of life of people affected by dementia in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The Society's fight for a better world for people with all types of dementia takes a wide range of forms. Through the network of local services, Alzheimer's Society touches the lives of over 30,000 people every week, providing practical services and support for people with dementia and their carers.
Through campaigning and lobbying, it strives to influence government policies and raise awareness of the challenges faced by people with dementia and by the people who care for them. And through its dedicated research programme, the society works to improve our understanding of dementia and its treatment – and to pursue the ultimate goal of finding a cure.
The CCF branch network will be rising to the challenge by taking on various fundraising activities in a bid to raise £50,000 over the next year. If you’d like to join in, help, or just add a few more pounds to the kitty, speak to your local branch.
